Ruins, beaches, diving and snorkeling!

My first real stop was in Tulum, wow what a beach! Superwhite and soft sand, very clear, very blue sea, paradise!
I stayed in a hostel the first night where I met this really nice guy Mark, from Australia. The following days we rented a cabaña (little hut) at the beach, soooo nice! If we opened the door we had seaview, and could see the sunrise from our beds. Wow!
So yeah, we spend 2 or 3 days at the beach, getting a tan, climbed over some rocks to visit the ruins (which weren´t impressive at all), luckly we got in illegally, so we didn´t had to pay for it :)
Then I heard about Cozumel, a little island right in front of Playa del Carmen. It is said to be the Mekka for divers, one of the best spots in the world, so, yep, I had to go there! It was really amazing, really nice coral, such a clear water, the visibility was amazing!!! I returned to Playa del Carmen where I stayed over and did some nasty partying with 2 English girls, wow, they can drink! I didn´t like Playa del Carmen that much, too many big group of tourists, a lot of those resort people, too American, but it was okay for 1 night.
Then I went to Isla Mujeres, which was said to be very nice too, but I guess I was a bit unlucky. When I got there, it was so cloudy and when I reached the hostel, it began to rain! The next day the same and they said the wheather was going to be like that the following days. So I checked out, and went Valladolid, a place very close to Chichen Itza (famous Maya ruin). Chichen Itza was indeed quite amazing, I went there very early in the morning, waited untill the park opened and I was the third to enter the park! For the first hour, there were only like 10 people in the park, which is really good! Walked around, and returned to the main plaza about 12.00u. Wow I was in shock! So many tourgroups, all the guides were clapping in their hands to get the group together, it was crazy! I was really glad I went there so early!
The next day I went with 2 French girls to another Maya ruin, quite unknown, nice too. We decided to hitchike back to Valladolid, since there were no taxi´s. A tourguide and his client picked us up, they were going to do this boattrip to see the flamingos. When we reached the junction, the tourguide asked us if we wanted to join them with their trip. Well, we didn´t really brought enough money for that, but he said: don´t worry about the money, we are going to have some lunch first, if you pay only your lunch, it´s okay. So, yeah, we ended up with this amazing boattrip, for free!!! Saw a lot of flamingo´s, pelicans, birds, really nice!
Monday I arrived in Merida, where I did a tour with some girls from the hostel to 3 cenotes (underwater caves). We snorkeled in 2 of them, which was really beautiful. We were doing the Tarzan swinging-thing on very long roots of the trees above the caves and had lunch with a Mayan family.
The day after I went with Daniel, an English guy to Uxmal, another Mayan ruin. That one is defenitely the most beautiful one I´ve seen so far! It has so many little decoration on the buildings, like masks of gods, persons, Mayan symbols, just beautiful!
In the afternoon I bought this very HUGE hammock, they say it´s for 2 persons, well, it can fit 5 Karens in it! So, anyone who wants to share the hammock with me? (Have to find another room first, to hang it in, so any rooms for rent?)
I arrived in Palenque today, where I´m reunited with Mark again, we are going to rent another cabaña, but now in the jungle! Probably we will visit the ruins of Palenque tomorrow, maybe some waterfalls around here, we´ll see!
O, maybe an important thing for you: I changed my returndate, I will stay here in Mexico for 1 week more. Will fly back the 18th of February. Hasta muy pronto!
