Lamu: donkeys, beach, ultra relaxation!

Wow, can't believe my flight is leaving in a couple of hours.
Well, last week I went back to Kenya to explore the coast. I met Sajjid in Kampala, a Kenyan who lives in Canada now and he wanted to come with me to Lamu which is good, having company is always a nice thing.
After a very very long busride we ended up in Mombasa where we stayed at one of his aunties house. After dropping our things and taking a shower (Mombasa is sooooooooooooooooo hot!) we went to catch some seabreeze at the beach:)
The next day we took the bus to Lamu, well actually, we missed the bus. That's one thing of Africa I will never understand. Everything is pole pole, everybody is always late, but public transport is most of the time very on time! The bus had just left, so we chased the bus with this little tuk-tuk (motorbike transformed to this little taxi, hard to explain, I'll put a photo on the net later) And yes, we made it!!! At one moment during the busride everybody had to go outside, coz somebody had lost 400 dollars in the bus. Everybody got checked but being a Mzungu, nobody expects us to steal money, they didn't really check us. Finally they've found a bag (without owner) that is left on the street with the money in it! Mystery not yet solved but fortunately the guy got back his money.
We met 2 Swedish girls on the bus to Lamu and spent most of the time with them. Lamu is just toooooooooooo relaxing! There are no cars, only donkeys, donkeyshit everywhere, people just hanging out on the streets chatting, eating, drinking, wow, just what I needed! Nearby was a beach and I actually got sunburned!!! You should see my face now, skin is peeling off and have brown and white patches! Looks funny, I think I'm going to set a new trend in Holland;)
Today I did some last shoppings (what a shock, Nairobi compared to Lamu) and my taxidriver is picking me up in 30 minutes to drive me to the airport. Thank you for reading my journal and the reactions! See you all very very soon!

Is het erg koud daar in Holland? Ik heb het de afgelopen week ook ontzettend koud gehad(!), maar daar zal ik hopelijk vanavond meer over vertellen in mijn dagboek.
